Environment
Southern Palms Beach Club has identified key environmental aspects related to the operation of its hotel in Barbados. These include: the rational use of energy and water; solid waste and wastewater disposal; reduction of greenhouse gases; proper disposal of hazardous materials; noise reduction; and the use of biodegradable cleaning materials. Southern Palms Beach Club has a comprehensive Environmental Management System in place addressing key environmental issues as well as issues of health, hygiene and safety. The hotel actively supports a carbon offset program.
Corporate Responsibility
Southern Palms Beach Club complies with all employment and labor laws; actively supports local staff hiring on all levels and is an equal opportunity employer. No social, gender or racial discrimination of any kind is practiced or supported. The hotel has an ethics code in place for all staff, as well as health and safety regulations for both guests and employees. The Hotel is against sexual commercial exploitation, particularly of children and adolescents. Sustainable products from local businesses are preferred at all purchasing levels. Southern Palms Beach Club provides a guest feedback mechanism and responds accordingly.
Conservation
Hotel management understands the impact of tourism on the local community and therefore prefers the purchase of sustainable local products whenever possible. In addition, Southern Palms Beach Club actively supports the local community by sponsoring cultural events. It is the goal of the hotel to identify, monitor and improve all aspects of environmental sustainability on an ongoing basis, to ensure that all operational legislative and regulatory requirements are met, and to preserve natural resources and historical sites in Barbados and the Caribbean.
SOUTHERN PALMS BEACH CLUB will not tolerate any sexually abusive or exploitative acts on children being perpetrated by our employees, guests’ or anyone associated with the delivery of our daily services. Employees and managers are bound to uphold this policy and to report people or incidents that they believe contravene it. Managers have a duty to ensure that allegations of sexual exploitation and abuse are investigated and reported to the relevant authorities.

PROCEDURE:
Anyone bearing witness to this should immediately report the incident/persons to the General Manager or Human Resources Manager.
The General Manager or in his/her absence the Human Resources Manager or Head of Department will immediately report to the Police AND The Child Care Board the incident/persons involved.
A written record of the incident/persons should be given to the Human Resources Manager.

The Quality Assurance policy of Southern Palms Hotel is to provide Hotel services and products that fully meet the quality requirements of our Customer at all times; as they change over time and as described in international standards and directives.
The Management of the Hotel undertakes to support, monitor and implement all the necessary measures required to achieve the highest standard of service possible.
The Management also undertakes to locate and examine ‘quality’ problems throughout the Hotel and with the assistance of every employee study and implement the necessary measures to prevent them from reoccurring in the future.
